Secured vs unsecured business line of credit: what's the difference?
The difference is collateral: a secured business line of credit is backed by specific assets, inventory, receivables, equipment, or a blanket lien, while an unsecured line is approved on your revenue and credit alone. Secured lines generally offer lower rates and higher limits; unsecured lines are faster and don't tie up your assets. Choosing the wrong one means either overpaying for credit or pledging collateral you didn't need to. Quordx Capital matches you with both kinds of lenders from a 50+ network so you can compare real offers side by side.

How collateral changes the deal
With a secured line, the lender files a lien on the pledged assets; if you default, they can claim them. That safety net lets lenders price lower and extend more: bank lines (typically secured or strongly underwritten) ran median rates around 7.2% fixed to 7.8-8.1% variable in late-2025 Fed data. With an unsecured line, the lender's only protection is your cash flow and usually a personal guarantee, a personal promise to repay, which is standard on most small business credit either way. The honest framework: if you have strong assets and can wait through fuller underwriting, secured wins on cost. If you're newer, asset-light, or need the line open this week, unsecured wins on access. Limits across both typically run $10K-$250K+.
Your line of credit options
Secured business line of credit: Lower rates, higher limits, collateral required. Best for established businesses with inventory, receivables, or equipment to pledge.
Unsecured business line of credit: Faster approval, no specific collateral, higher rates. Best for service businesses and owners who need speed over the lowest price.
A/R financing / invoice factoring: Advances part of the invoice value up front, minus a fee. Best if your main asset is unpaid invoices: it can beat a secured line built on the same receivables.

How Quordx Capital Works
Complete one application in roughly 10 minutes and upload your documents once: bank statements, ID, entity papers. Quordx Capital's matching process evaluates your assets, revenue, and credit, then surfaces 3-7 lenders from the 50+ network offering the structures you'd actually qualify for, secured and unsecured alike. Lender decisions typically return within 24-48 hours; most lines fund within 3-7 business days.
What to Expect
Owners often fear that pledging collateral puts the whole business at risk. The truthful version: liens only matter if you default, and every matched offer spells out exactly what's pledged, what the personal guarantee covers, and what it all costs, no surprises buried in page nine. Quordx Capital charges you nothing, and reviewing offers obligates you to nothing.
