Bluevine Alternatives: 4 Best Bluevine Business Line of Credit Competitors
If Bluevine said no to you, a rule almost certainly did it, not underwriting.
Bluevine requires the business to be a corporation or an LLC, which removes every sole proprietor before a number gets read. It also excludes businesses operating or incorporated in Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota or U.S. territories. A third group is bigger than either: owners who came looking for invoice factoring or a term loan. Bluevine no longer offers invoice factoring itself and now directs factoring customers to FundThrough. What it sells today is a line of credit and business checking.
Part of our guide to Business Loans.
Bluevine is good at one product and closed to a lot of owners
On the product it does sell, the mechanics are unusually clear. Bluevine publishes a maximum line size and repays each draw in fixed installments on a weekly schedule, with a monthly payment plan available to businesses that clear a higher personal credit and time in business bar. Read both plans side by side, because the payment cadence decides whether a draw fits your deposits better than the price does. It states there are no setup, subscription, maintenance or termination fees, and no required long term contract. It also advertises an "as low as" rate, which describes one draw for a well qualified borrower rather than a range, so ask what your own pricing would be.
You can screen yourself in a minute, which is more than most lenders allow. Bluevine publishes a time in business requirement, a revenue floor, a personal credit minimum, a no bankruptcies condition and a Secretary of State good standing requirement, all on one eligibility page, so check each against your file first. It pairs the line with its own business checking, and it is a financial technology company rather than a bank, with banking services provided through a partner bank.
Then come the rules that end the conversation before underwriting starts. The entity rule and the state exclusions above are formation and geography questions, not credit questions. Converting to an LLC is a fair answer if the rest of your file is strong, though ask your accountant first. Quordx does not serve Nevada, North Dakota or South Dakota either, and does not operate in California, so if you are in one of those four states, work directly with lenders that operate where you are. There is no prepayment penalty and you can repay extra at any time. On interest accruing plans, paying early stops further interest. On the fixed fee weekly plan, Bluevine states prepayment does not reduce the total owed, so early payoff there is a cash flow decision rather than a savings one.
Where to take the file Bluevine turned down
Fundbox, for young businesses and short gaps
Fundbox publishes the shortest eligibility list of the four. The single stated requirement is a business checking account with a minimum transaction history, and the length of it is on its site. No revenue floor, no time in business figure and no score minimum appears on the pages we reviewed. It makes the first decision from bank transaction data on a soft pull, and states the hard pull comes at your first draw.
It publishes a maximum facility size and a short repayment schedule, with no early repayment fees. Fundbox states it makes capital available through business loans and lines of credit originated by First Electronic Bank or Lead Bank, so the agreement you sign is a bank's paper. Nothing on those pages addresses entity rules, so raise that directly if you are a sole proprietor.
OnDeck, for a revolving line with a soft first look
OnDeck puts a personal credit minimum, a time in business requirement, an annual revenue floor and a business checking account requirement in one place. It runs a soft credit check on the owner's personal credit to determine eligibility.
Its line revolves, so repaid principal becomes available again without a fresh application, and it advertises same day funding for qualifying customers. Repayment runs daily, weekly or monthly depending on the product, so pin down the cadence before you sign. Its term loan carries a personal guarantee and a general lien on business assets.
American Express Business Line of Credit, for a monthly payment
American Express Business Line of Credit publishes a time in business requirement and a personal credit minimum at application, and industry restrictions apply. Each draw becomes its own fixed installment loan repaid monthly, with the term chosen from a published set of options when you draw.
The cost is quoted as a flat monthly loan fee on the original principal rather than as an interest rate, and no table of total fees by term appears on the pages we reviewed, so ask for the fee in dollars on the exact term you want. It states Card Members may be pre-approved, and that the line amount, fees and terms all follow a review of your financial profile.
Quordx, when the answer is a different product
Fair warning: this is our site.
If you came to Bluevine wanting factoring, no line of credit fixes what is actually wrong. Your money is sitting in someone else's accounts payable, so we start with what you are funding, not the product you asked for. One application, roughly 10 minutes. We read it ourselves and tell you which kinds of funding your file can realistically reach. Our network runs past 50 lenders and covers A/R financing and invoice factoring alongside lines of credit, term loans, SBA, equipment and purchase order financing. A complete package goes to three to seven of them, chosen because your kind of business is what they already fund. The lenders themselves advertise decisions in 24 to 48 hours, with funding 3 to 7 business days behind the decision. It all happens in a portal and over email, so no one waits on a phone call.
Not every lender pays us the same. We do not let that decide anything. When the smaller offer is the better one for you, that is what we tell you to take. When your file fits nothing today, you get that answer instead, on a day we earn nothing. Small shop. Doing this honestly is all we have to sell.
You will not be billed by us: not to apply, not a broker fee, not to process anything. Our income is a lender commission on a closed deal. Say that makes the loan cheap and we would be lying to you. The lender's charge for writing it, plus any closing costs, is still yours to carry. Only finding out where you stand is free. Two things we cannot do: fund the deal ourselves, or approve you on our own. We also do not serve California, Nevada, North Dakota or South Dakota.

Getting a fast yes without wrecking the file Bluevine already saw
Read the eligibility page before the pricing page. Entity type, state, bankruptcy history and Secretary of State standing are pass or fail gates. No amount of revenue clears them.
Fix your Secretary of State standing first if it lapsed. An administratively dissolved or delinquent entity fails this test at several lenders, and reinstatement is usually a filing and a fee.
Have the documents ready before you apply. Business bank statements, recent tax returns, entity documents, a government issued ID and a voided business check cover most requests. Missing statements, not lender speed, is why a fast product funds slowly.
Ask about factoring separately if your customers pay on terms. Receivables financing is underwritten largely on your customers' credit rather than yours, so a business that fails a credit line test can still get funded against its invoices.
Does Bluevine still do invoice factoring? No. Bluevine no longer offers invoice factoring itself and now directs factoring customers to FundThrough. Older factoring pages are still up, and they are not evidence of a current product.
Can a sole proprietor get a business line of credit anywhere? Yes, but the field narrows fast, because several lenders publish entity requirements as a hard gate. Raise entity type in the first conversation, not after you upload statements.
Why do lenders exclude specific states? State law governs who may lend commercially and on what terms, and the rules differ enough that most lenders pick a footprint rather than all fifty. An exclusion reflects that footprint, not an opinion about your business.
How much does a personal credit score actually decide here? Less than owners expect, once you are past a given lender's floor. Every lender here publishes its own minimum, and clearing it only buys a reading of the file. Above the floor, revenue consistency and deposit history set your limit and your cost.
Bluevine built a good line of credit and documents how its repayment plans work. It is a narrower company than it used to be, so if you arrived expecting factoring or a term loan, that is the mismatch.
Work out whether a rule blocked you or underwriting did, then take the file to a lender whose rules fit. We can tell you which ones those are before you spend another afternoon on applications.
