Why was my business loan denied?

Most business loan denials trace back to one of six causes: credit score, time in business, insufficient revenue, weak cash flow in your bank statements, too much existing debt, or a restricted industry. A denial from one lender tells you almost nothing about your actual fundability: it only tells you that you applied to the wrong lender for your profile. Owners who stop after one "no" leave real approvals on the table. Quordx Capital exists to solve exactly this mismatch: one application, matched against 50+ lenders with very different appetites.

The six reasons lenders deny business loans

Credit score below the lender's floor: Banks generally want strong personal credit; most SBA 7(a) lenders look for 650+. Revenue-based lenders go down to roughly 500-550.

Not enough time in business: Banks often want 2+ years. Alternative lenders accept 3-6 months.

Revenue too low: Many alternative lenders want roughly $10K+ in monthly revenue; banks want more history and consistency.

Cash flow problems in bank statements: Negative balance days, frequent overdrafts, or declining deposits are quiet deal-killers even when topline revenue looks fine.

Existing debt load: If current payments already eat your margin, especially stacked advances, lenders question your capacity to service more.

Industry restrictions: Some banks simply don't lend to trucking, restaurants, construction, or other categories they consider volatile, no matter how strong your numbers are.

Lenders rarely explain denials clearly, so the same business that a bank rejects can be a routine approval for a specialty lender.

What this means for your next application

Working capital loans: $5K-$500K underwritten on revenue rather than credit. Best if your denial was credit-driven but your deposits are healthy.

Equipment financing: the equipment is the collateral, which neutralizes several denial reasons at once. Best for hard-asset purchases after a credit-based rejection.

Business lines of credit: $10K-$250K+, revolving. Best if you were denied for asking for more term debt than your cash flow supported; you only pay interest on what you draw.

Industry-specialty lenders: Quordx Capital's network includes lenders built for trucking, food service, construction, healthcare, and other frequently declined industries.

How Quordx Capital Works

Instead of guessing which lender fits, you fill out one 10-minute application and upload 3-6 months of bank statements, your most recent tax return, and ID. The platform's AI reads your actual profile, score, revenue, time in business, industry, and ranks the 3-7 lenders from its 50+ network most likely to approve you. Decisions typically return within 24-48 hours; funded deals usually close in 3-7 business days.

What to Expect

You'll learn quickly whether your denial was a lender-fit problem or a profile problem. If it's the latter, Quordx Capital will tell you honestly what to fix and won't push you into an expensive product just to close a deal. The process is free, there are no broker fees, and exploring your matches creates no obligation.
