What is a good business credit score?

A good business credit score depends on which score you mean: on Dun & Bradstreet's PAYDEX scale (0-100), 80 or above is good, signaling you pay on time or early. On Experian's Intelliscore (1-100), 76+ generally indicates low risk. And for SBA lending, a FICO SBSS score of 165+ is the threshold commonly used for smaller 7(a) loans. If your scores fall short of these marks, you're not locked out of funding, but not knowing where you stand means you can't choose the right lender, and applying blind wastes time. Quordx Capital matches you with lenders suited to your actual profile, whatever the number says.

The Three Business Credit Scores That Matter

PAYDEX (Dun & Bradstreet, 0-100): Built almost entirely on payment timeliness reported by vendors and creditors. 80 means you pay exactly on terms; above 80 means you pay early. Suppliers check this score before extending net terms.

Intelliscore Plus (Experian, 1-100): A risk-prediction score using payment history, credit utilization, and public records. Scores of 76 or higher sit in the low-risk band most lenders prefer.

FICO SBSS (0-300): A blended score combining business and personal credit data. It matters most for SBA loans: 165+ is the common benchmark for smaller 7(a) deals.

One important reality check: for most small business loans, lenders still weigh your personal credit score and your revenue more heavily than any business score. A strong PAYDEX helps, but bank statements showing healthy deposits often help more.

What You Can Qualify For at Different Levels

Business term loans: ($10K-$500K+): Best for established businesses with solid personal credit and steady revenue; strong business credit improves pricing.

SBA loans: (up to $5M): Best for the lowest long-term cost if your SBSS clears 165 and personal credit sits around 650+.

Working capital loans: ($5K-$500K): Best when scores are still building; revenue-based approvals start around 500-550 personal credit.
