Are merchant cash advances bad?
Merchant cash advances aren't inherently bad: they're expensive, fast, and forgiving of weak credit, which makes them the right tool in a narrow set of situations and the wrong one everywhere else. The danger isn't the product; it's taking one without understanding the math or comparing alternatives. Plenty of owners grab an MCA in a cash crunch, then watch daily withdrawals create the next crunch. Quordx Capital treats MCAs as one option among many, never the default, and shows you the true cost next to cheaper products before you sign anything.

The Honest Math on Merchant Cash Advances
An MCA isn't a loan. It's a purchase of your future receivables: a funder gives you $5K-$500K now in exchange for a fixed total repaid through a daily or weekly percentage of revenue. Pricing uses a factor rate, typically 1.15-1.50. Repaying early doesn't shrink the cost, which is the single biggest difference from an interest-bearing loan. Compressed into a short repayment window, that cost can translate to a very high effective APR.
When an MCA can make sense: you need capital in 1-3 business days, your credit (scores from roughly 500-550 can qualify) blocks cheaper products, and the money funds something with a fast, concrete return, like inventory for a confirmed order or a revenue-generating repair.
When it's genuinely a bad idea: covering ongoing losses, funding long-term projects, thin-margin businesses that can't absorb daily debits, or stacking a second advance on a first.
Cheaper Alternatives Worth Checking First
Working capital loan ($5K-$500K): Best for short-term operational needs with a defined payoff schedule instead of open-ended daily pulls.
Business line of credit ($10K-$250K+): Best for recurring gaps: draw what you need, pay interest only on that amount.
Invoice factoring: Best for B2B businesses with outstanding invoices; advances 70-90% of invoice value based on your clients' credit, not yours.
Equipment financing ($5K-$5M+): Best when the need is equipment: the asset is the collateral, so rates (commonly 7%-20%) beat MCA pricing handily.

How Quordx Capital Works
Fill out a single application, roughly 5 minutes, and upload 3-6 months of bank statements plus your latest business tax return. Quordx Capital's matching process screens its 50+ lender network and surfaces the 3-7 lenders most likely to approve you, across every category you fit, not just MCAs. Expect decisions in 24-48 hours and funding in 3-7 business days, sometimes 1-3.
What to Expect
Expect a straight answer. If an MCA is genuinely your best available option, you'll see the full repayment figure before committing. If it isn't, Quordx Capital will point you to the cheaper product, or tell you "not yet" rather than submit you for something harmful. Comparing costs nothing and obligates you to nothing.
